You Don’t Need a Website to Start Helping People (You Need This Instead)
I spent a lot of time at first creating my whole website, making sure I had really good images and visuals, and needed everything to be ready before even thinking of talking about my offer. I thought I needed to have ALL of the information on my website first.
But here's the thing... a website doesn't get you clients, especially at first. Conversations do.
Are you spending all of your time preparing everything before you actually launch your business?
Your whole website has to be complete and ready! Your branding, your logo, your email template, your funnel, your social media pages (all of them)...
Does that sound like you?
People think they need to have everything set up before they're even "allowed" to start selling. It feels safer and more exciting to be doing all that work instead of facing potential rejection! And then they get stuck in this "when I have this all done, THEN I'll start" type of pattern.
Is it possible that you are using all of these tasks as a distraction from actually really getting started?
Because when you're just getting started, having a website is not that important. You don't NEED one. People don't buy because you have beautiful graphics or even because you look professional. They buy because you have a solution that they desire, and they resonate with you.
They get to know you first, learn to trust and like you. Then, they will most likely buy from you after having a conversation. Not from visiting your website.
So what you truly need is a simple system to follow, and of course, an offer!
Before you worry about fonts, make sure you know:
1) What problem you solve,
2) Who you solve it for,
3) The transformation they get.
You need something to sell, you need to get visible and then sell it to the right people. And to do this, you don't need all of the fancy tech (although I love doing all the fancy tech, but that's just me!)
A lot of people, when they start, offer free sessions to get started. They start by being seen and getting some experience, in exchange for testimonials. They don't have a website; they just ask people if they want it!
I know, it's easier to offer something for free than to ask for money for it. But at least, it gets you to dip your toes and take the first steps.
But you don't have to only sell 1-1 sessions, although it might be the easiest at first. You can also sell an online course, a coaching program for several sessions or months, a group membership, etc. You have to decide first what feels best for you.
So, how do you find clients without a website or a funnel??
You just need a simple system. This can look like:
Commenting in other groups about your offer (where it is allowed) > Message interested people > Invite them on a call > Make an offer
DM new people in your niche > have a conversation to get to know them and see if they qualify as a good lead for you > invite them on a call > make an offer
Offer a freebie in exchange for email addresses and grow your email list > send an email with an offer to book a call > make an offer on the call
Something simple that you can do regularly every week, consistently.
But when you contact people, don't go straight for the jugular! People need to get to know you first, learn to trust you. So you might need to have a few DM conversations before actually making the offer to book a call. You might need to send a few emails before people decide that they trust you enough to book a call.
So basically, to get started, you just need one offer and clarity on who you are serving.
Can you do that?
Because the time you spend pimping your website is time you are NOT making offers to potential clients.
You can be all scrappy and still get started!
And also, no one is actually analyzing all of your business under a magnifying glass and judging it. Everyone who is successful now started in a scrappy, imperfect way. They perfected their business as they went, as they failed and made mistakes.
Taking imperfect action is way better than waiting for everything to be perfect and not moving forward.
"Good enough" is good enough!
Are you ready to get started for real? No more perfecting things for eternity?
