When Productivity Is Just Fancy Avoidance...

July 08, 20253 min read

Oh, you think you’re being productive? Might just be some fancy avoidance… 😬

Honest talk.

Sometimes, we try to be productive, we think we are! But it might actually just be a clever way of avoiding the scary thing we actually need to do. The scary actions that would actually move the needle!

Like, finally admitting that your 9-5 job is draining the life out of you… (and your soul)

Or showing up online and sharing your real voice instead of hiding behind some canva designs and endless planning and organizing..

“Let me watch one more motivational video that will inspire me and and that I think I need instead of taking action and actually getting myself out there so that people can find me!”

I see this often on social medias, and hey, I’ve done it too. To be honest… I still do sometimes! 😬

People will create a whole website and it needs to be perfect before they get out there and post on social media.

Or, they’ll update their bio, work on their branding colors, play with Canva, organize their Google Drive… and watch one more video of course!

Meanwhile, their soul ist quietly whispering… “Heeeey, psst… that’s not what I really want…”

But, we like to stay busy!

Because, busy feels safe.

It feels like progress, like productivity.

Busy people are put on a pedestal!

We’re been taught, culturally, that being busy will lead to success. If you’re busy, you’re worthy.

If you’re busy and working hard, then you DESERVE success.

But here’s the hard truth…

If by being productive and busy you keep avoiding your purpose…

If your to-do list keeps you from the intuitive, scary, messy things that ACTUALLY move you forward…

That’s not success. It’s more like abandoning yourself. Is it too harsh to say… it’s like you’re giving up?

Sometimes, we stay in misaligned jobs or routines, not because we don’t know what we want…

But because taking action on it feels terrifying!

So we stay stuck in unproductive action that looks good from the outside, but keeps us small on the inside.

I don’t want you to stay small. NOT ALLOWED

And if this hits home, I just want you to know… it’s okay. You’re not doing it wrong.

You’re awakening!

We all avoid scary stuff unconsciously. You’re not broken and nobody needs to be perfect. Nobody IS perfect. Perfect would be super boring anyway... Imagine? Lol

Now, take a moment to think about your to-do list. Will those tasks really bring you closer to your vision? No? Then they are not priority!

And the tasks that WILL move you closer to your vision, they are scary right? Then go slow. Take on task at a time. Maybe only do 1 per day, but prioritize them, while being gentle on yourself.

Gently and gracefully kick yourself in the butt to do the scary tasks!

And if you’re ready to start doing the kind of work that feels soul-aligned and gets you closer to your freedom, I’d love to help.
